Leadership and Management Development

This course is for experienced graduates in management, or related areas, who are looking to enhance their subject knowledge and develop advanced research skills. The course helps students to develop and enhance their skills in management, reflect on their own practice and gain an understanding of how creating direction and vision through communication, motivation and inspiration can aid the growth, success and sustainability of an organisation.

Entry requirements

To join this programme applicants should have a 1st or upper 2nd Class Honours degree in a management or social sciences related discipline. In exceptional circumstances, students with a lower 2nd class Honours degree with demonstrable knowledge of their subject matter may be admitted at the department's discretion. Overseas applicants are considered on an individual basis and will be expected to demonstrate IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

Course modules

Core modules: Leadership and management learning; strategy, culture and change; organisational research; business planning and finance; dissertation.
Leadership and management development pathway: Management in the 21st century; collaboration across boundaries in management. Third sector pathway: Third sector governance: policy, practice and challenge; work-based learning. International pathway: Global civil society; international development management.
