This programme involves students writing a 30,000 word dissertation in an area of law of their choosing (subject to the supervisory expertise being available). Students are prepared for the dissertation through training in research methods and the completion of a detailed research proposal. The modules studied introduces different research methods and methodologies and instil an appreciation of ethical considerations.

Entry requirements

A 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree. Applicants need to submit an outline research proposal of up to 1,000 words. For overseas applicants: IELTS 7.0 or equivalent is required.

Course modules

Advanced legal research; dissertation proposal; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Dissertation and an oral examination.
