This course is suitable for students looking for work as a registered practitioner of physiotherapy, sports therapy or equivalent; looking to enhance professional practice within football rehabilitation; become a more rounded, holistic, evidence-based practitioner and advance the profession by engaging in practice-related research. The programme focuses on the knowledge, understanding and skills required to prepare to meet the demands of professional football. With a good balance between practical and theoretical skills, a range of appropriate assessments help prepare students for work in a multidisciplinary team.
2.1 Honours degree in physiotherapy, sports therapy or equivalent; HPC registered and member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and/or insured member of the Society of Sports Therapists; minimum of 2 years relevant post graduation work experience; evidence of suitable standard of English literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE passes at grade C in mathematics and English or equivalent); fitness to practice medical clearance; Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS, previously CRB) Enhanced Disclosure.
Modules: injury and rehabilitation in a football environment; current concepts of rehabilitation in football; preparation, planning and performance in football; research design and analysis; current issues in strength training and conditioning; research project.
