Coach Education

This programme combines taught modules and independent study to offer students in coach education the opportunity to develop specialist, in-depth knowledge within a sporting context; this might include, for example, coaching pedagogy, skill acquisition, notational analysis, or coach development and learning; students are immersed in research training and develop a research proposal prior to undertaking in-depth and extended research in a specific area of coach education of choice.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a 1st or 2.1 Honours degree; in exceptional circumstances, students with a 2.2 Honours degree and demonstrable knowledge of their subject matter may be admitted at the department�s discretion. Applicants whose 1st language is not English, or who originate from countries whose national language is not English: IELTS 7.0 or equivalent. Each applicant is required to submit a research proposal of approximately 1,000 words detailing the focus of their MRes studies and demonstrating their enthusiasm and commitment towards the proposed subject; a formal registration interview/viva will be held for each candidate.
