Leadership Development

The programme provides students with opportunities for in-depth self awareness, critical reflection on their own style of leadership and leadership skills and learning to be dynamic in decision-making. It provides students with the knowledge and skills to effectively implement change and inform their practice with an evidence base. There is also an opportunity to plan a research proposal and undertake a project utilising leadership and change management skills in the final year of study.

Entry requirements

2.2 Honours degree in a health or social care related subject; the focus for the programme is to link theory to practice; students are expected to be working in an environment that allows them to meet the learning outcomes of the course; all applicants for the programme are offered an academic interview prior to commencement of the programme.

Course modules

Leading people through change; research: developing a research proposal; advanced practice project; leadership, self awareness and self empowerment; leadership in health and social care; leadership, self awareness and self empowerment; collaboration across boundaries in management; medical leadership; collaboration across boundaries in management.

Assessment methods

Essays, presentations, a leadership development plan, reflective diaries, seminars, online discussion and the undertaking of a project.
