Applied Clinical Nutrition

This programme is intended for frontline health professionals who provide advice to the public about nutrition-related aspects of health and disease. It has been developed to meet the growing need for community and acute care professionals to have a fundamental knowledge of nutrition, as they become increasingly tasked with the responsibility to provide nutritional support and advice. For those who are health professionals looking to advance knowledge of the role nutrition plays in managing health to a high level, then this course will equip them with the necessary nutritional expertise to work alongside nutrition-based health professionals in clinical and non-clinical settings and make an important contribution to the nutritional wellbeing of patients.

Entry requirements

The normal minimum entry criteria is a 2.1 undergraduate Honours degree in a relevant subject which does not impart specialist knowledge or skills in relation to nutrition, such as nursing, midwifery, health and social care, pharmacy, medicine or biology. For overseas applicants, IELTS 7 or equivalent is required. An interview will form part of the selection process.

Course modules

Nutrition metabolism and disease; health behaviours and nutrition; research methods; nutrition throughout the lifespan; nutritional support in the clinical and non-clinical setting; dissertation.
