Real estate makes a major contribution to the economy and the capital invested in land has created demand for chartered surveyors with specialist skills in the valuation and management of real estate. Chartered surveyors with a degree in real estate surveying apply their specialist skills in the fields of: Development appraisal; investment; valuation; agency (buying and selling land and property); real estate management; urban planning; environmental sustainability assessment.

Entry requirements

The entry requirement for this course is a Bachelors (Honours) degree at a 2.2 or above. We look for applicants to have a background in any discipline in order to be eligible for the programme. This course is broad based and targeted at a diverse student body, including civil engineers, electrical engineers, building services engineers, mechanical engineers, architects, architectural technologists, quantity surveyors, lawyers, accountants, estate managers, etc. Candidates from all backgrounds seeking to gain an understanding of sustainable development are encouraged to apply. We may also consider lesser qualifications if you have sufficient relevant work experience within the industry.

Course modules

Subjects include: Sustainable energy technologies; renewable energy finance and environmental law; health and safety law; dissertation. Options: Sustainable building design or forensic engineering; building performance 3 or sustainable urban property development; waste management or sustainable water resources management.
