Course modules

Year 1: Construction engineering; engineering principles (civil), foundation mathematics a; construction surveying; civil engineering materials; optional module. Year 2: Fluid mechanics; structural analysis and design; intermediate mathematics; soil mechanics; transport policy and systems; optional module. Year 3: Water resources engineering; further intermediate mathematics; advanced project management; structural engineering 1; optional modules: English as a foreign language; digital mapping and GIS; methods of construction; network management; optional module: highway engineering and transport appraisal and highway design. Year 4: Geo-environmental and geotechnical engineering; engineering law and contract procedures; individual and group project; structural engineering and analysis; optional modules: water resources engineering, traffic models and public transport, geomechanics, analysis and modelling. Year 5: MEng dissertation, sustainable project design, integrating project work 2, engineering futures, forensic engineering or transport policy, 2 optional modules: foundation design to Eurocode 7; project risk management; structural dynamics and earthquake design; transport and traffic models; traffic management.
