Real Estate Management and Investment

Property plays a key role in business and investment, and there is a need to maximise the return from, and productivity of, real estate assets. This requires professional expertise. Working with industry practitioners, the course will allow you to gain knowledge of the wide range of principles that underpin property investment assets; including economics, property law, property valuation, asset management, the principles of sustainable urban property development, and the skills to apply these effectively.

Entry requirements

The entry requirement for this course is a Bachelors (Honours) degree at a 2.2 or above, or equivalent. Applicants will be considered from a variety of backgrounds such as social sciences, arts, accountancy and law in addition to the more traditional construction and science subjects. The course is targeted at a diverse student body. Applicants with equivalent qualifications and experience may also be considered for those with: Sufficient relevant work experience within the real estate and property industry, or corporate membership of a professional body.

Course modules

January intake. Year 1: Property investment analysis; property asset management; strategic management (built environment and engineering) or building economics; law and administration (property and construction). Year 2: Sustainable urban property development; real estate valuation; dissertation. September intake. Year 1: Strategic management (built environment and engineering) or building economics; law and administration (property and construction); property investment analysis; property asset management. Year 2: Real estate valuation; sustainable urban property development. Year 3: Dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by a mix of methods including written examinations, essays and courseworks.
