Real Estate Management and Investment

Commercial real estate makes a major contribution to the economy and the capital invested in property has created demand for Chartered Surveyors with specialist skills in investment appraisal, asset management and sustainability. The current economic climate has reinforced the need to maximize the return from, and productivity of, real estate assets. These days, to effectively engage in property investment markets, you need to be aware of the wide range of principles that underpin the valuation, management, investment and development of property assets and have the skills to analyse investment data and assess returns.

Entry requirements

Applicants require prior experience in a property or construction discipline; degree or equivalent normally required, or a alternative qualification and appropriate experience; candidates with non standard qualifications and experience equivalent to the above are welcome.

Course modules

Trimester 1: Building economics or strategic management (built environment and engineering), law and administration, analysis of property investment market data. Trimester 2: Property investment analysis, property asset management, sustainable urban property development. Trimester 3: MSc dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by a mix of methods including written examinations, essays and courseworks. The individual assessment strategy or each module can be viewed on the individual module descriptors.
