Advanced Structural Engineering
Students on this course, will develop skills in the analysis, design and assessment of engineering structures subject to normal, seismic and extreme loading and environmental conditions. Offering a wide range of structural engineering principles, while learning about issues relating to steel and concrete structures and foundations.
Bachelor (Honours) degree at 2.2 or above, or equivalent. We look for applicants to have a background in engineering (civil, mechanical or electrical) or a physical science (maths or physics) in order to be eligible for this programme. We may also consider lesser qualifications if you have sufficient relevant work experience within the industry.
Trimester 1: Advanced mechanics of materials and FEA, advanced structural concrete 1 - analysis, advanced structural steel design 1, forensic engineering. Trimester 2: Structural dynamics and earthquake design, advanced structural concrete 2 - design, advanced structural steel design 2, foundation design to Eurocode 7. Trimester 3: Masters dissertation.
