Advanced Practice in Nursing and Applied Education

Gain an in depth understanding of the theoretical knowledge and practical skills you need to practice at an advanced level, as well as the ability to critically appraise relevant health and social policy. You will acquire the knowledge and skills you need to address ethical and professional issues and enhance the quality of healthcare by fostering a broader, deeper and more critical approach to nursing and education. The course will prepare you for a deeper involvement in the development and communication of the theories behind your practice.

Entry requirements

Applicants need to be currently in a role which has a contractual obligation for teaching, learning and assessment and. If students require registration with the nursing and midwifery council (nurses and midwives only) they need to have been a registered practitioner working with students for a minimum period of 3 years.

Course modules

Year 1: Exploring professional roles in practice; professional study and practices; effective learning and teaching in higher education contexts. Year 2: Research methods; assessment evaluation and support; option module. Year 3: Dissertation; options modules. Study modules mentioned above are indicative only.
