MA Communication Design at Falmouth is a transformative 45-week intensive studio based course that enables the development of individual critical voice in the practice and business of communication design. This is delivered in the context of a rapidly changing, complex and accelerating media world, where the ability to create meaningful and effective ideas for business and societal need is key. The course is critically about being connected; using latest insights, critical theories and technologies to develop adaptive thinkers whose ideas and outcomes inspire and shape new practice and subject innovation.
Applicants require relevant level 6 qualifications, or relevant equivalent experience, and a demonstrable interest in their subject. Applicants require a background in the subject or related subject area, acquired through previous study. Applicants require an Honours degree or equivalent in areas such as graphic design, illustration, communication and digital media, photography, film or similar studio based disciplines. Other subject specialisms will be considered on an individual basis. Additionally, applicants may be considered who have acquired previous experience.
Modules include: design process; intersections; boundaries; curate and build; compete; project.
Assessment methods include: individual projects briefs; design research journal; essay; oral presentations, individually and in groups; critical review or business plan.
