The programme provides a structured pathway for the development of expert network engineering skills within a supportive academic environment. On successful completion of the programme you will have the knowledge and skills needed to achieve Cisco's elite Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification.

Entry requirements

MSc: 2nd-class Hons Degree or above in a computing/network related discipline. Networking modules with 2nd Class grades (or equivalent) at Year 3 and above are required.

Modules include: Layer 2 technologies; layer 3 technologies 1; layer 3 technologies 2; integrating network technologies a; research and project methods a; security and VPN technologies; infrastructure services; multicast and WAN technologies; integrating network technologies; research and project methods b; research and project methods b; MSc project.

Assessment methods

Taught modules are assessed on a mix of coursework and practical class tests. Practical networking skills form a significant part of the assessment. Modules also include formal examinations where appropriate.

Sponsorship information

Tuition fees need to be paid to the university however some students are eligible for tuition fee support. The fees and financial support that are relevant to you depend on where you lived before coming to university; scholarships of £1,600 are available to all international students; there are no special application forms for scholarships and decisions are made on the basis of the information provided with the application forms.
