Climate Justice

This programme focuses on the principles of climate justice, human rights, development and climate change. The course's core modules develop professional skills applicable to dealing with the complexity of climate justice issues. While the specialist nature of the course suits the needs of the modern climate and development professional. The programme provides a practical study of climate justice, developing the practical skills, approaches and methodologies for addressing climate justice in future work.

Entry requirements

MSc: UK Honours degree 2.2 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area e.g. graduates of international development, development studies, environmental sciences, climate change, social sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, geography). Those from unrelated disciplines but with relevant work experience or alternative qualifications can be considered.

Course modules

Modules include: Resources and sustainability; climate change and carbon management; climate justice; human rights, gender and development; environmental ethics and climate change; climate change, adaptation and mitigation; water, justice and public health; renewable energy technologies; Master's dissertation/project.

Assessment methods

Students will be assessed via a combination of coursework, oral presentations, on-line discussions, computer based exercises, case study analysis, reports and a final dissertation.

Sponsorship information

Some students are eligible for tuition fee support. The fees and financial support that are relevant to you depend on where you lived before coming to university. Scholarships of £1,600 are available to all international students; there are no special application forms for scholarships and decisions will be made on the basis of the information provided with the application forms.
