International Events Management

This course represents an educational innovation dedicated to producing skilled and knowledgeable events practitioners capable not only of delivering exceptional events experiences, but also understanding the cultural phenomenon, policy frameworks and international practices that inform and challenge today's events. Learn theoretical and practical methods for developing, marketing and managing local, national and international events.

Entry requirements

Normally a 2.2 Honours degree in a related area (e.g. business management, marketing, events, sport, tourism, hospitality). Applications from students with other backgrounds (e.g. Social Sciences) will also be considered. For applicants who do not have the necessary formal entry qualifications, the University's flexible entry policy considers credit transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), including work-based experience. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.0 (with no element of the score less than 5.5) or equivalent.

Course modules

Core modules: Global strategy (challenges and choices); contemporary issues in business and society; personal and professional development; sport event tourism; event experiences; events, place and society; research methods; dissertation.

Assessment methods

The programme is assessed via various forms of coursework including: Essays; reports; presentations; case studies.

Sponsorship information

Some students are eligible for tuition fee support. The fees and financial support that are relevant to you depend on where you lived before coming to university. Scholarships of £1,000 are available to all international students; there are no special application forms for scholarships and decisions will be made on the basis of the information provided with the application forms.
