The Doctorate of Management (DMan) programme explores advanced management strategies and issues to allow candidates to design, conduct and apply innovative and practice-orientated research to specific management problems.

Entry requirements

Postgraduate students admitted to the Doctorate of Management (DMan) programme will normally be business and/or management professionals with nationally recognised first qualification in their discipline; applicants will normally be expected to have a 1st or 2:1 Honours degree, or a Master's degree, in a business or management related subject, and to have had a minimum of five years of related professional experience. In cases where there is no history of recent educational experience, evidence of awareness of research methodology and attainment of IT skills, applicants will be advised to enrol on a related programme of study to gain appropriate experience, prior to submitting an application to the DMan; International students whose first language is not English shall be required to demonstrate evidence of satisfactory competence by completing an IELTS test with a score of at least 7.0 (with no element of the score less than 6.5) or by holding another recognised qualification.

Course modules

Research methods; professional business/management development/project development, design and management; research proposal; independent learning and research.

Assessment methods

The programme consists of 4 taught modules assessed by coursework and a final doctoral thesis assessed by thesis submission and viva voce.
