A minimum 2nd Class Honours degree from a UK university or equivalent in an appropriate engineering or science discipline. Substantial,relevant work experience may also be considered. Students whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS test with a score of at least 6.0 (no element less than 5.5) or TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 (213 for computer based test).
Students complete 6 taught modules in trimester A and B; and an MSc project in trimester C. Trimester A: Wireless and mobile communications systems; digital communications; research methods; professional practice (delivered over trimesters A and B). Trimester B: Fundamentals of simulation of computer networks; optical comms and photonic networks; real-time digital signal processing.
Assessment methods include examinations and coursework; practical computing forms a significant part of assessment; this is accomplished through coursework and practical tests.
