Maintenance Management

Many industrial installations are now automated and very complex; consequently maintenance has become more complex to cope with higher technical and competitive business expectations; cost effective maintenance management of assets is now accepted as being a vital function with a management structure; this programme provides a suitably qualified or experienced engineer of all disciplines, modern cost effective maintenance management techniques for the efficient operation of all types of sophisticated, complex equipment.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree from a British university or equivalent in a science or engineering subject; or an equivalent qualification from an overseas institution; applicants with appropriate professional experience may be considered; equivalence to an Honours degree may be demonstrated through the University's procedures for the Recognition of Prior Informal Learning (RPL); where English is not 1st language: IELTS 6.0 (no element less than 5.5).

Course modules

Modules include: Maintenance management; condition monitoring; strategy and innovation; project planning and management; non-destructive testing methodology; reliability and availability assessment; ethics, safety and safety management; energy audit and energy asset management; project.

Assessment methods

Assessment is either by coursework only or a combination of coursework and examination; in the latter case the final mark is determined by weighted average of the 2 elements. The MSc project is assessed by project reports, practical operation and an electronic presentation.

Sponsorship information

Scholarships of £1,000 are available to all international students; there are no special application forms for scholarships and decisions will be made on the basis of the information provided with the application forms.
