Building Services Engineering
The programme is designed to accept Honours degree graduates (2.2 and above) or equivalent in any discipline associated with building services engineering, mechanical engineering or energy-related studies; applicants with appropriate professional experience may be considered on individual merit. International students whose first language is not English shall be required to demonstrate evidence of satisfactory competence by completing an IELTS test with a score of at least 6.0 (with no element of the score less than 5.5) or by holding another recognised qualification.
Core modules include: Building simulation; building management systems; heating and air conditioning system design; building and energy performance simulation; electrical power systems; building management systems; project. Elective modules may include: Resources and sustainability; sustainable design and construction; management of safety, health and environmental project risk; construction management; climate change and carbon management; construction contracts and dispute; renewable energy technologies; water quality and waste water treatment; construction financial management; project management.
Assessment methods include written examination, course work, and oral presentation; normally there is more than 1 assessment component in each module.
