Maintenance Management (Oil and Gas)

The programme provides suitably qualified or experienced engineers of all disciplines with modern cost effective maintenance management techniques for the efficient operation of all types of sophisticated, complex equipment.

Entry requirements

UK Honours degree 2.2 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or science discipline; applicants with appropriate professional experience may be considered; equivalence to an Honours degree may be demonstrated through the University's procedures for the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Students whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no element below 5.5.

Course modules

Students complete 8 taught modules: 4 in trimester A and 3 in trimester B; and a Masters project in trimester C. Core modules include: The oil and gas industry; project planning and management; the oil and gas industry; maintenance management; non-destructive testing methodology; condition monitoring; reliability and availability assessment; data acquisition and analysis; ethics,safety and safety management; MSc project.

Assessment methods

The taught modules are either assessed by coursework only or a combination of coursework and examination. In the latter case the final mark is determined by weighted average of the 2 elements. The MSc project is assessed by project reports, practical operation and an electronic presentation.

Sponsorship information

Tuition fees need to be paid to the university however some students are eligible for tuition fee support. The fees and financial support that are relevant to you depend on where you lived before coming to university. Scholarships of £1,000 are available to all international students; there are no special application forms for scholarships and decisions are made on the basis of the information provided with the application forms.
