Diagnostic Imaging

The programme develops advanced skills, such as critical thinking, evidence based practice and research, to enable practitioners to effect change based on best and current practice. Building on current knowledge and clinical experience, students will gain further understanding of a range of imaging modalities commonly utilised in patient investigation and treatment pathways, such as CT and MRI, with the opportunity to focus on areas most relevant to their own practice. The teaching team consists of academic experts and clinical specialists, ensuring that the content is relevant, current and evidence based. An optional pathway is offered in Medical Ultrasound Studies for those who have an interest in medical ultrasound; this optional pathway develops a theoretical knowledge of the physical principles and an understanding of the clinical application.

Entry requirements

Available to health and social care professionals with relevant experience and an interest in the area. Applicants should have a UK Honours degree (or equivalent), a professional diploma or unclassified degree with a minimum two years� professional experience. IELTS score of 6.5 (or equivalent) with no element below 6.0 (reading and writing at 6.5 or higher).

Course modules

Modules include: Advancing practices in imaging 1; evaluating evidence to develop research and inform practice; advancing practices in imaging 2; advanced leadership for health and social care practitioners; optional pathway in medical ultrasound studies; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include: Examinations; written assignments; reflective portfolio; oral and/or poster presentations.
