Food Bioscience

The focus of the course is to orientate students towards how the food industry works and the requisite theoretical and practical skills to allow the student to gain employment opportunities in these businesses employment opportunities are enhanced by the project and placement elements.

Entry requirements

UK Honours degree 2.2 (or equivalent) in food science or technology/biological sciences. International students whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS test with a score of at least 6.0 (with no single element below 5.5) or another recognised qualification.

Course modules

Modules include: Food science; research methods for biomedical science, food commodities; food and applied microbiology;chemical and instrumental analysis of food; food toxicology; research project; industrial placement.

Assessment methods

Each module is assessed individually by a combination of coursework and formal examinations.

Sponsorship information

Some students are eligible for tuition fee support. The fees and financial support that are relevant to you depend on where you lived before coming to university. Scholarships of £1,000 are available to all international students; there are no special application forms for scholarships and decisions will be made on the basis of the information provided with the application forms.
