This course has been developed as an accelerated route for graduates wishing to practice as chartered physiotherapists; the programme comprises theoretical and practical elements.
Normally, the students will be 1st class or upper 2nd Class Honours graduates in Biological Exercise, or related sciences. The Honours degree must have contained human psychology within its programme of study and experience of the process of research is essential for entry to this programme; a diploma/degree in Physiotherapy is not appropriate; before applying to this programme, it is recommended that applicants are aware of the diverse nature of physiotherapy practice; selection will be based on the graduate's educational qualifications, academic references, medical fitness and interview performance; international students whose first language is not English shall be required to demonstrate evidence of satisfactory competence by completing an IELTS test with a score of at least 7.0 or by holding another recognised qualification.
Modules in year 1 include: Neuromusculoskeletal therapeutics; interprofessional context of practice cardiovascular and respiratory care; practice education 1; practice evaluation; neuro-rehabilitation; neuromusculoskeletal practice 2; year 2 (practice placements 2 and 3): Dissertation; practice placements 4 and 5; elective placement; organisation of behaviour and professional practice; practice placements 7 and 8.
A number of assessment methods are used in the programme, including coursework, practical examination, presentations and MSc Dissertation.
