This course aims to give students the confidence to balance the needs of people to the efficiency of the task in a resource-scarce world; it provides a broad education in management and business and develops analytical and interpersonal skills, enabling students to apply their knowledge creatively to improve management and business practice; students gain a wide perspective on management and business issues and the organisational contexts in which they apply; they refine and build upon their communication, team-working, and presentation skills through individual and group work, and develop their personal and professional skills in decision making, problem solving, analysis, and critical reflection.
An honours degree (or equivalent), a relevant postgraduate qualification or a professional qualification; alternatively, a non-graduate qualification which the university deems satisfactory for the purpose of postgraduate admission and which includes sufficient management components may be accepted along with relevant employment experience; interviews may be held to give applicants an opportunity to provide evidence of their suitability for this course.
Modules include: Managing resources in a business context; leadership and people management; achieving corporate success. Optional modules: marketing; accounting; people management; international business.
Assessment is based on a 15000 word dissertation.
