This course has been designed to provide a range of flexible development opportunities for professionals working in education (all sectors), training and all their related fields; it has a modular framework that is contemporary in design and encompasses 3 main themes: management, curriculum, and inclusion, each theme having specific modules that can be delivered and studied flexibly and in context with the student's own professional development needs; students can elect to study for a named award within a theme or for the generic award by studying modules across the themes.
An honours degree in a relevant subject; many modules require students to be working in, or have access to, a school classroom environment.
Modules include: Reflective practice, development and review; transition and transfer; the dyslexia-friendly classroom; teaching students with additional learning needs; classroom observation; mentoring; research-informed teaching; a pedagogical approach to e-based learning; reflective practice and higher education; postgraduate supervision; research methods; creative approaches to strategic planning; academic leadership; dissertation.
Assessment methods include portfolios, presentations, reports, research projects, reports to seminar groups and essays.
