The programme combines practice and theory through a combination of lecture/seminar courses and practical training in the use of camcorders; sound recording; and video editing; while the final project will be the production of a video; a central aim of the programme is that the work is informed by thorough critical and conceptual preparation.
2nd Class Honours degree in relevant discipline; degree is in an unrelated field may be considered subject to a qualifying examination; IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.5 in the written element and no individual element lower than 6.0) or equivalent.
Core: anthropology of art 1; anthropology of art 2; anthropology video production; critique, theory and representation; ethnographic film and cinema studies; plus options.
Assessment is by essays/reports for theory courses and 1 2-week take-home paper; practice elements are assessed on the basis of training projects; the final project (a video of no more than 20 minutes� length) is accompanied by a written report.
