Vision, Image and Robotics (VIBOT)

This course is a collaboration between the 3 leading European institutions, the Universitat de Girona (Spain), the UniversiteĢ de Bourgogne (France) and Heriot-Watt University (Scotland); it aims at meeting the present needs of industry for quality control, automation of industrial processes and e-health; students spend the 1st semester in Scotland, the 2nd in Spain and the 3rd in France; the 4th semester is reserved for Master's thesis.

Entry requirements

UK 1st Class in either electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, mathematics, robotics, physics and industrial engineering; or overseas equivalent; all applicants whose 1st language is not English require TOEFL 550 (computer 213); or IELTS 6.5.

Course modules

Core units: digital signal processing; software engineering; data mining and machine learning; image compression communication; image processing (VIBOT); research methods critical analysis and project planning; fundamental on robotics; autonomous robots; scene segmentation and interpretation; visual perception; real-time image processing; local culture; shape recognition and statistics; image analysis; infrared imagery; human vision psychophysics; radio-isotopic imagery; X and ultrasound imagery; biological basis of medical imaging; local culture.

Non EU student grants; up to 24 grants of 42,000 Euros (covering the 2 years of study) are available; other awards also available on a competitive basis.
