The programme is flexible, professionally oriented and tailored to the need of the European and international translation markets; languages offered are French, German, and Spanish; students either work in both directions between English and 1 other language (strand a), or into English from 2 languages (strand b).

Entry requirements

Strand a: native/near-native command of English; plus native/near-native command of French, German, or Spanish; and a second Class degree or equivalent in a relevant language subject; strand b: native/near-native command of English; plus an excellent command of two from French, German, Spanish, Arabic or Chinese plus a second Class degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.

Course modules

Core units: translation practice 1; translation and interpreting studies and the international context 1; translation technologies; translation practice 2; translation and interpreting studies and the international context 2; localisation and technical writing; MSc dissertation. Choose 2 optional units: beginners� language; liaison and public service interpreting; interpreting and intercultural communication; subtitling.
