Safety, Risk and Reliability Engineering

The course aims to provide students with an understanding of safety, risk and reliability engineering in both a qualitative and quantitative manner, and to develop the skills to apply this understanding; the course will also introduce students to recent developments in analytical techniques, e.g. computer modelling of risk, reliability and safety problems.

Entry requirements

For MSc level entry applicants must have a minimum of 2.2 Honours degree or equivalent academic qualification in cognate and semi-cognate subject area. For Postgraduate Diploma level entry applicants must have a 3rd Class Honours Degree in a cognate or semi-cognate subject area plus 2 years of relevant experience at an appropriate level completed post qualification; cognate or semi-cognate ordinary degree plus 3-4 years of relevant experience at an appropriate level following graduation. If English is not the applicant's 1st language a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent is required with all elements passed at 6.0 or above.

Risk assessment and safety management; systems reliability; learning from disasters; safety, risk and reliability; fire safety, explosions and process safety; data analysis and simulation; human factors methods; environmental impact assessment; dissertation.
