Philosophy of Religion

This course involves a critical and reflective investigation of psychological approaches and findings to the understanding of religious beliefs, values and practices; it addresses questions of whether and how psychology can contribute to deeper insight into the nature of religion and more specifically the nature of religious or irreligious states of mind and experience; the implications of such understandings for clinical, educational, and pastoral contexts are also explored; supervision available for research.

Entry requirements

A 1st or Upper 2nd class Honours degree in an appropriate subject and/or an MA with distinction or near distinction in a degree subject related to the proposed research; international applicants, whose 1st language is not English require either IELTS level 7 or its certificated equivalent (certificates must be no more than 2 years old), or show that a degree taught in English in the UK has been studied.
