International Health Management
The course prepares students for a management career in a diverse group of healthcare organisations both in the public and private domains including: pharmaceutical and health technology companies; consulting firms; healthcare provider organisations; government health systems; insurance agencies and international organisations.
A 2.1 Honours degree or above, (or the equivalent international qualification) in medicine, health sciences, social sciences, physical sciences, engineering, informatics or another relevant discipline. All applicants whose 1st language is not English require: GCSE, IGCSE, GCE O-level or equivalent at grade B; or Cambridge certificate of proficiency in English (CPE) at grade B; or IELTS score of 7.0 with a score of 6.5 or better in the written and speaking section; or TOEFL paper minimum score of 610 (test of written English (TWE) of 4.5 or more); or TOEFL computer minimum score of 250 (TWE of 4.5 or more); or TOEFL internet minimum score of 100 overall, including a minimum of 24 in the written section and a minimum of 24 in the speaking section.
Modules include: Accounting; health informatics; marketing; organisational behaviour and human resource management; strategic management; contemporary topics in healthcare; health economics; health systems policy and financing; management challenges of healthcare organisations; managing change and innovation in healthcare; entrepreneurship; business plan competition; evaluating evidence for managerial decision making; healthcare sector project; healthcare essay.
Assessment is by a 3,000-word essay on a relevant healthcare topic.
