Significant questions being addressed by researchers include: how can images be compressed without significant degradation; what is the best way of designing a communication network; how can we optimally increase the utilisation of available communication system resources; how are services, such as health, banking and home entertainment to be delivered flexibly and in a verifiable manner; the continuing research effort of the group addresses such questions amongst the many areas currently under investigation.
