Clinical Research (Translational Medicine)
The programme is a research based umbrella course comprising of 4 pathways, of which this is one. This course provides training in the theoretical and practical aspects of clinical research within an academic clinical science environment.
A 2.1 Honours degree in medicine or life sciences or equivalent.
Modules include: principles of drug and biomarker discovery; clinical trial design and management; the role of biomarkers and surrogate endpoints; emerging technologies in medical research (genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, clinical and molecular imaging); clinical investigation paradigms; research governance; medical statistics; 2 complementary, intercalated research projects.
Assessment involves 1 written examination on the taught component; plus thesis and viva for the research.
