The course provides a broad training to provide students with a background knowledge of careers in biomedical research. The emphasis is on a research-orientated approach and comprises both theoretical and practical elements. Students acquire an understanding of modern molecular and cell science through both theory and practical exposure; students also demonstrate practical dexterity in both commonly employed and more advanced practical techniques used in biomedical laboratories; students perform novel laboratory-based research, accumulate experimental findings and exercise critical scientific thought in the interpretation of those findings.
