Successful completion of the course requires 180 level 4 credits; this includes all taught modules and the dissertation; the taught modules consist of 5 core modules and 1 elective module.

Entry requirements

Current 1st level professional registration with a relevant professional body such as NMC or CSP,and be working in clinical practice; applicants should be experienced practitioners working in a critical care environment; a 2.2 or higher 1st degree; or successful completion of an undergraduate diploma in a related subject, a minimum of 5 years professional experience and evidence of recent study is considered on an individual basis.

Course modules

Core modules: research methods; health and social policy; evidence based practice; health assessment in clinical practice; physiological responses to critical injury and illness; elective modules: contemporary issues in nursing practice; clinical management; diversity in healthcare; developing work place knowledge for workplace learning.
