This programme provides an introduction to health policy and health service professionals � clinicians and managers � who anticipate taking on substantial management responsibilities or who hold management positions. The course is both analytical (tracing links or causalities) and �interventionist�, (tracing opportunities for intervention to change or capitalise on particular links or causalities).
Good MBA or equivalent qualification in a management area, including at least 60% in a Master�s dissertation, plus significant senior management experience, evidence of previous research and/or publications and/or career achievement, and support from an employing organisation if and as necessary.
Stage 1 (2 years): research training; interaction with a cohort of peers; Stage 2 (2 years minimum): research project based on the participant�s professional practice; research findings should be broadly transferable to the workplace.
Assessment is based on written assignments.
Participants in professional doctorates may be able to obtain help with tuition fees from their employers.
