This is a non modular course; the course leads to recommendation for the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
2.2 degree in relevant subject or equivalent with at least 40 per cent content directly related to the subject to be taught and another science certificate equivalent to A-level standard in either biology, chemistry, physics or geology (different from the degree); GCSE mathematics and English grade C; an enhanced disclosure certificate from the Government�s Criminal Records Bureau (CRB); interview.
Topics include: Becoming a professional teacher; classroom management; school curriculum; lesson planning; planning for the medium and long-term; teaching and learning strategies; resources; assessment; professional development; the use of information and communication technology in the classroom.
