Old Age Psychiatry and Dementia
Research supervision is available in areas related to dementia and other mental illnesses that affect older people; the basic biology of Alzheimer's disease, the clinical features and aetiology of psychosis in later life and the conduct of randomised controlled trials; there is a particular commitment to the conduct of high quality independent clinical trials because the results of these can impact positively upon the availability of effective treatments.
Good Honours degree (2.1 or above) from a UK university or the overseas equivalent; applicants whose qualifications have been gained outside the UK need to demonstrate that their background and experience, general education and scholarship are appropriate; all applicants need to possess an adequate level of English competence.
Biomarkers and recovery from delirium; ATTILA (assistive technologies brains for dementia research); DOMINO - AD; visual hallucinations in eye disease, dementia and Parkinson's Disease; management of agitation in dementia; Blood based biomarkers for Alzheimer's Disease.
