Research topics on this programme include music history and musical analysis covering music from the middle ages to the present day; opera studies; performance practice; music theory; historiography; medieval music; Baroque music; 18th- and 19th-century music; the early-20th-century; and composition; a new area of research being opened up by staff at King's is the study of music on record especially historical recordings and their implications for performance.

Good Honours degree (2.1 or above) in music; a Master's degree; equivalent qualifications or experience.
