Biblical Studies (Language and Literature or Theology)
This course can be pursued via 2 pathways; the Language and Literature pathway includes critical study of the Hebrew Bible and/or New Testament in the historical and literary contexts out of which they arose, engaging in questions at the forefront of the scholarly discipline; a biblical language is compulsory and can be studied at introductory or advanced level; the Theology pathway includes engagement with the theological interpretation of the Bible, and the study of Christian doctrine as it has developed in constant interplay with biblical interpretation.
An Honours degree (2.1 or overseas equivalent) in a relevant subject; suitable background acquired by informal routes is also considered.
1 scholarship per year by King�s College London Theological Trust to a student from a country where the opportunity to pursue a Theology degree is not normally available and for whom sources of finance are not available; the student must already have been accepted by the department; the Trust additionally makes a number of minor grants to students; 2 Walton Scholarships each approx �4,500 per year.
