Nutritional Sciences

The nutritional sciences are concerned with the process by which living matter acquires substances called nutrients for growth, repair and energy, but the science of nutrition is better defined as being concerned with understanding the effects of food on the body in both health and disease; current research is concerned with identifying dietary factors that are associated with increased risk of chronic disease and understanding the metabolic basis for diet related disease.

Entry requirements

2.1 Honours degree or Master's in a biomedical science or a veterinary; medical or dental qualification. A 2.2 degree may be considered only where applicants also offer a Master's degree with merit or above.

Sponsorship information

Home students are funded by research councils, charities, government bodies and industry and potential supervisors may be able to assist applicants in raising funds; King's graduate school studentship also available; whilst overseas students are eligible to apply for an overseas research studentship (ORS) award with the support of the host institution: whose potential applicants for ORS awards should contact the division before the end of December.
