Environment, Politics and Globalisation
This course is a combination of theoretical and policy-relevant modules drawing on the environmental expertise of staff and internships with participating environmental organisations; students gain in-depth knowledge and critical awareness of the politics and geographies shaping contemporary and past environments; the course includes local case studies and global environmental issues, politics and policies.
A Minimum standard is a 2.1 degree or international equivalent, eg GPA of 3.3 from a US university; candidates who do not achieve a 2.1 but have professional or voluntary experience may also be considered; mature candidates are considered favourably.
Modules include: Practising social research; globalisation and the environment; plus optional modules; advanced quantitative and spatial methods in human geography (MSc).
Assessment is by essay, presentation, practicals and occasionally by examination. The three-month dissertation is core and can be taken overseas or in the UK.
Varied including Research Councils, University of London Scholarships, departmental bursaries and career development loans; for overseas students Chevening Scholarships are available from the British Council.
