Urban Design and Planning

The course has a focus on design that encompasses urban form and space, alongside more strategic thinking in relation to frameworks, planning policy or communication tools. Whilst the course offers a grounding in current planning practice and its background, this is placed within a global political and cultural context.

Entry requirements

2.1 or 1st BA (Hons) or BSc (Hons) degree in any subject; however, applicants are expected to have some demonstrable knowledge within a related discipline obtained either through formal study or through work experience; the course is also suitable for applicants who have already undertaken postgraduate study, such as a professional architecture qualification; applicants must demonstrate: an interest and aptitude for the course as well as an ability to engage in a rigorous, graduate programme of study; an understanding of planning and urban design as both academic subjects and as ongoing practices; and a commitment and motivation to the practice of planning and urban design; overseas students require IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.
