Financial Economics

This course is aimed at students who are interested in developing their knowledge of economic analysis and its applications and who would also like the opportunity to focus on financial economics. Optional modules allows students to specialise in issues regarding portfolio theory and the efficiency of financial markets; the operation and development of financial risk management; the financial sector of developing countries; and/or international trade and finance.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to have a 2nd Class degree or above, or equivalent, in an appropriate subject; applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: Applied econometrics and economic policy; economic change and ideas; financial economics; macro-and microeconomic theory.

Assessment methods

Assessment includes class tests; essays; examinations; graded exercises; practical course work; presentations; take-home tests and a dissertation; a literature review; and economic reports.
