Journalism and the Creative Economy
This course helps students develop or enhance a range of professional and practical skills in journalism whilst providing the entrepreneurial skills needed to apply and develop writing talent across the creative industries.
A 2nd Class degree or above in a relevant area; 2 years' work experience in the creative industries; interviews; applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum score of 7.5 in writing and 6.0 in all other elements.
Modules include: Design thinking and entrepreneurship in practice; managing creativity and innovation; leadership in the creative economy; contemporary issues in the creative economy; journalism practices; feature writing; design and production in periodical publishing; the business of magazines; personal research project.
Assessments include essays, case studies, reports and presentations, plus the final Personal Research Project (approximately 15,000 words).
