Creative Writing Low Residency

The course provides the opportunity to work with a range of well-established writers in a dynamic writing environment in the UK without students having to relocate or give up their current job. There are 2 residencies during the course during which writing workshops are combined with critical reading seminars, masterclasses, guest readings, supervisions and visits to cultural events in London. Other work is completed via distance learning. There is the option of a 3rd residency which is not accredited. Students develop their writing skills and knowledge of creative writing whilst receiving support from tutors and supervisors.

Entry requirements

A 2nd Class degree or above, or equivalent, in creative writing, English literature, literature and language, drama or theatre studies or a similar subject; a 2,000-word sample of creative writing; interview; applicants whose 1st language is not English IELTS of 6.5 overall, with 7.0 in writing.

Course modules

Modules include: Advanced dissertation project; critical challenges for creative writers; special study: workshops in popular genre writing; structure and style; writers' workshop.

Assessment methods

Assessment includes a final dissertation.
