Business Information Technology
This course explores how current technologies are being used to provide more-effective management systems. They gain an overview of what constitutes business information technology and develop a knowledge of the technology and issues in order to plan, design and predict new document management applications. Students also gain practical web programming knowledge and related security issues. In addition, students look at strategies for the exploitation, management and implementation of Internet and e-commerce applications. Throughout the programme students develop integrated business management and IT skills and knowledge. They become conversant with the language of e-business and equipped to deal with emerging technologies.
An Honours degree or equivalent, preferably in a business area; and some experience in information technology or computer use; applicants whose 1st language is not English require academic IELTS of 6.5 overall.
Modules include: E-commerce operations; information resources management; web information technology and services; business information technology consultancy project; strategic management of information systems; business internet systems; project management; research methods and dissertation. Optional modules: strategic project management; information governance and security.
Assessment is through examinations; individual and group work; case studies and practical laboratory sessions; consultancy project; dissertation.
