Creative Writing and the Creative Economy

The course develops an understanding of the processes of managing creativity and innovation and enhance their skills as a creative leader. Students also develop their writing skills whilst gaining opportunities to explore the ways in which they can put this talent at the service of various creative industries.

Entry requirements

A 2nd Class degree or above in a relevant area; 2 years' work experience in the creative industries; interview; applicants whose 1st language is not English require academic IELTS of 6.5 overall.

Course modules

Modules include: Design thinking and entrepreneurship in practice; managing creativity and innovation; leadership in the creative economy; contemporary issues in the creative economy; special study (workshops in popular genre writing); writers' workshop; personal research project.

Assessment methods

Assessments include essays, case studies, reports and presentations, plus the final personal research project (approximately 15,000 words).
