Management and Business Studies Research
Students examine research designs and data collection as well as data analysis and reporting, linking qualitative and quantitative methods and techniques. Students also look at perspectives on organisational studies and further background materials to encourage debate about research and philosophies. In addition advanced research methods introduce students to some statistical techniques, and computer-aided analysis of qualitative data. The research project proposal sessions prepares them for their dissertation, which in turn can be used to prepare the ground for doctoral research.
An Honours degree usually 2.1 or above; or a Master's degree, or equivalent, in either general management or a business-related subject; interview; exceptionally 5 years' of relevant professional work experience may be considered in lieu of these qualifications; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS of 7.0 overall.
Modules include: advanced research methods; foundations of data analysis and reporting; organisation theory and management; research design and data collection; research project proposal; dissertation.
Assessment is through written papers, research proposal and dissertation (15,000 words).
