Music and the Creative Economy
The course will help improve and expand your technical music skills, while teaching you the business know-how to get your ideas off the ground. This MA is suitable for graduates and for industry professionals alike. It is cross-faculty, interdisciplinary, and extremely practical.
A 2nd Class degree or above in a relevant area; 2 years' work experience in the creative industries; interview; applicants whose 1st language is not English are expected to have an IELTS score of 6.5 overall or equivalent.
Modules include: Design thinking and entrepreneurship in practice; managing creativity and innovation; leadership in the creative economy; contemporary issues in the creative economy; colloquia; psychology of musical learning; comparative international music education; music education in the UK; popular music composition; recording techniques; advanced production of popular music; sound design; marketing of popular music; personal research project.
Assessments include essays, case studies, reports and presentations, plus the final personal research project (approximately 15,000 words).
